Will there be a big change to the Strictly Come Dancing final? – goodhousekeeping.com

Now that Will Bayley is out of Strictly Come Dancing due to injury, there’s a chance there’ll be a big change to the show’s final.

Before we get into that, let’s recap on what’s happened with Will.

He and partner Janette Manrara were unable to dance in Halloween week after he sustained a knee injury during last minute rehearsals. The pair were granted a bye to the next round of competition, however on Wednesday (30 October) they appeared on It Takes Two to emotionally reveal they’re stepping down from the contest.

Through tears, Will told host Zoe Ball:

“I didn’t want it to end like this. I wouldn’t mind properly ending it, even if we went out next week or the week before, but I didn’t want to end it like this.”

Following the sad news, some fans took to social media to suggest that with a pair down, Strictly should reinstate the most recently eliminated couple, Catherine Tyldesley and Johannes Radebe.

While that’s one possibility, it’s also an option that Strictly will instead opt to carry on as usual until the final week then reduce the amount of finalists from four pairs to three.

This is how the show proceeded when Will Young and Karen Hauer pulled out in 2016, with Ore Oduba, Louise Redknapp and Danny Mac partaking in a three-way final.

It would, of course, mean slightly less dancing in the grand finale, but will Strictly go for it as a way of dealing with Will’s shock departure?

A representative for the show told Good Housekeeping they can’t comment, so for now it remains to be seen.

What we do know is that we’re in for a treat this weekend with a Couple’s Choice from Chris and Karen, and a Rumba from Emma and Anton.

Despite also sustaining an injury last week, and being on crutches during rehearsals this week, Neil Jones is hopeful he’ll be back on the dance floor with Alex Scott on Saturday, dancing an American Smooth.

Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday on BBC One.
