Kylee’s mother, Christine Dixon, had opposed the surgery, which removed around half of Kylee’s liver, and had instead been trying to heal her using herbs, vitamins, and CBD oils.

Christine went on the run with Kylee in June in an attempt to avoid the treatment.

The pair were tracked down in Nevada after seven days and Kylee was taken into the custody of the state.

Christine subsequently failed to abide by a court order to follow doctors’ prescribed course of treatment for Kylee, continuing to use natural remedies, and Kylee was taken into foster care.

Having heard from physicians that Kylee’s health was in a state of “emergency”, a judge last week ruled that the girl would have the operation.

The procedure was successfully carried out on Tuesday and Kylee is now recovering in an intensive care unit.

Kylee was first rushed to hospital in February 2018 after experiencing extreme pain.

Doctors discovered that she was suffering from internal bleeding caused by a rupture to a mass on her liver.

The following month, she was diagnosed with undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma, a cancer of the liver that most often develops in children.

It is not known for sure what causes the condition, but it is thought the cancer grows early in the life of a fetus from cells that failed to properly develop.

For those treated with the surgery and chemotherapy recommended by doctors, the survival rate for the cancer after five years is 92 percent.

After Kylee’s surgery, Christine was escorted to her hospital room by police officers.

“She was alert and excited,” Christine told KGW8.

“We’re just praying and hoping for the best.”

Christine is now facing charges of criminal mistreatment over the affair, and is scheduled to be back in court in March.

She hopes be able to take Kylee back to live with her, but it is not yet clear whether she will be re-granted custody.

Christine claimed: “If they stuck to what they should do and their word and what their own protocol is, my daughter should be back in my own care immediately, right now.”
