Name: Nikita Gajjar

Occupation: Student

Age: 21 years

Height: 5 feet 6 inches

Highest weight recorded: 96 kgs

Weight lost: 39 kgs

Duration it took me to lose weight:
Less than 1 year

The turning point: I absolutely love wearing western dresses but could not do the same because I felt really conscious. I felt that my figure was really bad as people made fun of me. Additionally, I also had ligament problems due to which I had gained a lot of weight gradually. That was the point I realised that I needed to lose quite a lot of weight to get my life back on track. My doctor had asked me to lose weight after some time to prevent future knee injuries.

“My clothing size dropped from XXL to XS and my diet is my secret weapon!”

My breakfast: I start my day with apple cider vinegar with a dash of lemon. After an hour, I eat oats, a portion of fruits, eggs and 1 cup of milk. I also include dry fruits in my breakfast.

My lunch: For my dinner, I eat some rice, cottage cheese and a big bowl of soup or a dal.

My dinner: I like to eat sprouts, eggs and cottage cheese (paneer) depending on my protein requirement.

Pre-workout meal: A cup of black coffee and banana

Post-workout meal: Protein shake

I indulge in: I have whatever I crave for but make it a point to control my portions. Most of the time, I crave for ice cream or anything sweet.

My workout: I started my physical activity with walking and jogging. After that, I started gymming and working out. My workout routine includes weight training and high-intensity workout.

Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Green salad or any fruits

Fitness secrets I unveiled: I eat a lot of salad and drink two glass of water before having a meal. Also, I always track my macros and calories intake.

How do I stay motivated?
There is nothing more motivating than seeing your clothing size go down from XXL to XS. This in itself has been enough to keep me motivated. Additionally, I make it a point to follow bloggers and fitness enthusiasts to stay focused.

How do you ensure you don’t lose focus?
The quote ‘work insane or remain the same’ is the motto of my life. I take photos of my body after every workout session. I have noticed that it keeps me focused and motivated.

What’s the most difficult part of being overweight? It was really upsetting when I wasn’t able to wear some of my favourite clothes due to my weight. I also looked older than others as I was overweight.

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line? I want to remain fit and healthy.

What are the lifestyle changes you made?
There two changes I follow very strictly:

1. I always eat on time.

2. I always take care of the portion

What was the lowest point for you? Thankfully, I did not hit a low during my quest to lose weight. I kept my goal in my mind and continued working towards it.

Lessons learnt from weight loss: I have realised that mindful eating is an extremely important step in your weight loss journey. No one will be able to stop you if you have a strong mindset.
