Age is just a number, and it holds true for fitness and health as well. In fact, as you get older, you should start paying more attention to your health. Milind Soman and Narendra Modi, are two more examples of people who have taken care of their health, irrespective of their profession, busy schedules, etc.

If you are older in age, here is how you can lose weight quickly, and without facing any complications in your body.

Exercise

Yoga is one of the best exercises to include in your routine, no matter what age you are at, but is especially helpful and suitable for people in old age. Breathing exercises, alone, like ‘anulom-vilom’ and ‘kapalbhati’ can help improve digestion, keep respiratory diseases away, and also aid weight loss. Yoga can also help to keep stress away, by way of meditation and help in creating a healthy body and mind. Brisk walking, cycling are two more exercises that older people can try to stay fit and healthy.

Eat right

As you get older, you have to accept that your body is changing, and there are things you can’t do, that you did in your youth. You must eat right and light to ensure good digestion. Digestion plays a very important role in weight loss. Incorporating digestive foods like curd, buttermilk, etc. in your diet, and eating lots of healthy fruits is the key to stay fit in old age. Light vegetables like gourds, cucumbers, etc, should be eaten during the summers, while the winter diet should include a lot of leafy greens for healthy bones. Drinking a lot of water and fluids is recommended for healthy digestion.

Steer clear of unhealthy habits

Unhealthy habits like smoking, drinking, improper sleep, etc. can lead to unexplained and unnecessary weight gain, especially in old age. You must steer clear of those habits, not just for yourself but also for your family. Your children might learn those habits from you, and incorporate them in their lives, leading to an unhealthy body.
