When it comes to fit celebrities, a few famous women standout as badass gym buffs who work hard to stay tight and toned, despite their ages. But who seems to work harder than most? Halle Berry, according to her Instagram.

Berry, who is 52 BTW, has blessed her followers with a weekly #FitnessFriday post, documenting her sweat sessions. She began the series last January with her trainer, Peter Lee Thomas. “Each Friday I’ll be posting something about fitness that I hope will inspire you,” she wrote in the first post.

And they’ve kept up with the tradition, allowing us to feel inspired week after week. Here are our favorite Halle Berry fit lessons:

1. She recognizes the importance of cardio

While it’s not everyone’s favorite form of exercise, it’s an important aspect of staying fit. “For me, cardio is an essential part of my workout, and I believe that my fitness regime is not complete without it,” Berry wrote in a post from September 2018. “Cardio and heart health can go hand-in-hand; it efficiently pumps blood through the body, balancing your #BloodPressure and resting heart rate.”

2. She does yoga

The benefits of yoga go beyond the physical, and that’s why Berry chose it for her #FitnessFriday routine in May 2018. “I’ve learned that in my darkest hours, my inner strength is most available to me,” Berry wrote in the post. “I’d like to share with you a simple #meditation that helps me connect to that inner strength and move more easily through the tough times.” She then describes how to get in the yoga pose she likes for meditation.

3. She tries new things

Many are hesitant to try something new, but how else will you know what you’re capable of? Berry decided that that new thing was a handstand! When held in perfect form, handstands work essentially every muscle, though the powerhouse of this position is the core.

“Many of us get stuck in our fitness routines and do the same circuits over and over each week,” she wrote in the post from August 2018. “We do the same exercises for legs, the same for upper body, the same for abs and so on and then we wonder why we don’t see any real change in our body. Well, here is the answer. You have to shock your system and offer your body new exercises that it can respond to.”

4. Sometimes, it’s not always easy

Health and fitness is a journey, and you’re not going to get your dream body overnight. There are some days where you just won’t have the energy to fit your workout in or to push yourself to get the last rep. Berry’s advice? Push through it!

“I’m always asked how I handle fatigue and how I get the strength and energy to live my life and still work out as hard as I do,” she wrote in a post from September 2018. “First of all let me say, it’s will power. It’s mind over matter. It’s determination. It’s deciding to make my health and my fitness journey important.”

5. She trains with medicine balls

Despite having “no idea” how to use these heavy workout balls, the actress posted a photo this January where she and her trainer were working hard with medicine balls. “Before @peterleethomas showed me, I had NO idea there were so many functional & fun exercises you could do with it…all at home,” she wrote in the post. “These exercises target your core, works on your agility & balance, and is GREAT for cardio too!”

6. She dedicates her workouts to inspiring people

If you EVER feel like you can’t do something, look at this photo for inspiration. Not only for fitness inspo, but also for the message. ” In honor of #InternationalWomensDay I am dedicating this #FitnessFriday to all of the inspiring and strong women that have become such an essential part of my fitness journey – the strong AF women who talk straight, fight clean and hustle hard,” she wrote in the most from this March.

7. She lifts giant tires

Yep. If posing from the rope didn’t impress you, this will. “I love using unique equipment that offers several workout variations and keeps exercise interesting,” Berry wrote in a post from March. “Not ONLY do tire workouts effectively challenge you, bringing out the badass warrior that you are, they are the perfect way to work on both physique AND cardio.” We are VERY impressed, to say the least.

8. She also lifts cinder blocks

Cinder blocks are the new dumbbells, it seems! The fit celeb sometimes ditches traditional gym equipment for whatever she can get her hands on. “The way we see it, a true warrior can look at ANY environment and find new and exciting ways to challenge their routine (fancy gym membership NOT necessary!),” she wrote in a post from April.

9. She trains like an Olympian

Because, is there anything else you’d expect from HB?!? “Peter recently introduced me to #BulgarianBags – originally created for Olympic athletes 💪🏾 and I am hooked!” she wrote in the post from March. “We’ve used these bags for strength training, cardio, plyometrics, you name it!”

10. She recovers

Balance is key! It’s important to give your body the chance to reset. “To the people out there with injuries or who grind like I do, working long hours or double shifts – recovery can be just as important as the workout,” she wrote in the post from October of last year.
